Ivan Geliukh: We aim to speed up the energy transition in Europe
Ivan Geliukh, the newly appointed CEO of DTEK Renewables International (DRI), the European subsidiary of Ukraine’s private energy company DTEK, has taken on an ambitious challenge that will shape the company’s development for the coming years. His appointment, effective January 1, 2025, was announced by DRI’s press service.
Under Geliukh’s leadership, DTEK Renewables International aims to develop 5 GW of renewable energy capacity and energy storage systems across its key markets while actively exploring new ones.
DTEK Renewables International (DRI) is a structural division of DTEK, a Ukrainian private energy holding specializing in renewable energy development in Central and Southeastern Europe. Established in 2021 as a startup, the company was initially led by John Stuart. Over three years under his leadership, DRI became a key player in the renewable energy sector in countries such as Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
DRI's core mission is to contribute to achieving net-zero carbon emissions in European countries by developing a range of renewable energy and battery storage projects. The company currently operates in Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Romania, focusing on wind and solar power generation and supply.
Notably, at the end of 2023, DRI completed the construction of Romania’s first wind and solar farms, which now actively generate electricity. Today, DTEK Renewables International boasts 1.4 GW of renewable energy and storage capacity, supported by a team of approximately 100 international experts across six offices in Milan, Rome, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Bucharest, and Zagreb.
Commenting on Ivan Geliukh’s appointment as CEO of DRI, former CEO John Stuart stated: "I have no doubt that DRI will play a crucial role in the renewable energy sector. With Ivan at the helm, the company has an outstanding leader with a proven track record of growth within DTEK. I am confident he will lead DRI into its next stage of development".
Ivan Geliukh transitioned to DRI from DTEK’s European trading business, where he had served as CEO since 2022. During his tenure, D.Trading significantly expanded its global presence, reaching 23 countries and operating on 22 energy exchanges.
Before joining D.Trading, Geliukh led the DTEK Networks division for several years while co-chairing the Coordination Group of Distribution System Operators within the Energy Community.
